With winter hopefully behind us it’s time to get back on the road again. The Club is planning a day trip to visit this historic institution situated alongside the scenic Hudson River in Orange County, New York. Hope you can join the caravan for an early spring drive to tour the facility and lunch afterwards with other fellow club members.
The newly opened Visitors Center which provides an insight into cadet life, will serve as the starting point for the days activities while at West Point. Access to the academy grounds are via guided tours departing from the Visitors Center and can be booked in advance. The one hour and fifteen minute tour will provide greater insight as to the role the academy and its graduates have played in our nations history. After the tour we’ll meet up for a late lunch at the Thayer Hotel which opened in 1926 and has hosted numerous presidents and dignitaries.
The proposed itinerary is as follows:
8:15 AM Rendezvous at GSP Cheesequake rest stop
8:30 AM Begin two hour and fifteen minute drive to W. Point (incl. one biobreak)
10:45 AM Arrive W. Point
11:00 AM Begin one hour and fifteen minute tour from W. Point Vistors Center
1:00 – 1:30 PM Lunch at the Thayer Hotel
